      ECO TOURISM :

         Completed Projects

Namthing Pokhri
a small place in Darjeeling dist of WestBengal has recently caught the attention of the nature lovers as well as the eco-tourists due to its awsome beauty of nature, rich bio-diversity and panoromic views of mighty Kanchanjungha on one side and the plain of Teesta and Mahananda on the other.

NEWS has played a major in promoting eco-tourism and making Namthing Pokhri a tourist's paradise by its rigourous and comprehensive programme on"conservation "Himalayan Newt" along side with the efforts of establishing it as an eco-tourism site with the help of local community members. NEWS successfully communicated with the local people who made provisions for food, accomodation, uide facilities to the eco-tourists.They aslo took the initiative for preserving the serenity of nature as well as provide the necessary coservation for "Himalayan Newt".

Many tourists since then have visited the place and have reported to us their enjoyment in the natural abundance of the pokhri and also of the hospitality of the local people. Namthing Pokhri is thus a successful journey from conservation to Ecotourism and remains an example of involvement and initiative of the local village people in conserving the place as well as sustaining themselves.
