A profound difference, to overcome a major challenge in the supply-chain faced by the Badabon Harvest Farmer Producer Company (BHFPO), is what the United Insurance Company has made. Thanks to the pivotal intervention by NEWS for taking up this worthy appeal with the Department of Agriculture, West Bengal. Through the CSR initiative of United Insurance Company, a TATA ACE mini truck was donated to the BHFPO on the 12th of December 2018.
Since its very inception, for the BHFPO having had to depend on the erratic transportation available in the rural regions and struggling to deliver fresh produce from the farmers’ fields in Sundarban, to the consumers of Kolkata through its various urban markets in a timely manner, was an major ordeal. Now, being equipped with the much needed truck, which perhaps could be termed as a lifesaver for the Organisation, there is greater motivation and enthusiasm re-infused into the members of the BHFPO to continue their vital mission of promoting Best Practises in Sustainable Agriculture.
