New mangrove species found in Sundarbans by NEWS

A new mangrove speicies, Acanthus albus – a sub-species of Acanthus was found in Indian Sundarbans by the NEWS team in 2013. A new species of mangrove has been discovered after 54 years. Botanical Survey of India and the Indian Journal of Forestry has confirmed it as a new mangrove variety.
