Himalayan Serow – first documented in Buxa by NEWS

Himalayan Serow – Capricornis thar, sumatraensis , with its large head, donkey like ears , thick neck and short limbs was first documented by camera trap exercise in the estimation of lesser cats project by NEWS in the hilly regions of  Jainti range of Buxa Tiger Reserve in January 2015. More or less solitary in nature, this herbivore in the Himalayan races has limbs with chestnut colours above and dirty white below.
