Short-tailed Shearwater – first recorded in India by NEWS

Short-tailed Shearwater (Ardenna tenuirostris) – the most abundant seabird species in Australia which generally migrates to Northern Hemisphere for the boreal summer – was first recorded in India by NEWS team. It was seen in Namkhana block of South 24 Paraganas district of West Bengal on April 27th, 2013 by NEWS team. The record has been published in the Indian BIRDS section of Journal of South Asian Ornithology.
