A concurrent evaluation of National Afforestation Program (NAP) Implemented by 20 Forest Development Agencies (FDA) under WBSFDA was carried out for the sanctioned programme during 2010-2011 & 2011-2012 by Nature Environment & Wildlife Society (NEWS). Altogether, 14 Forest Divisions such as Kanshravati I & II, Purulia, Birbhum, Burdwan, Darjeeling, Darjeeling WL I, Jalpaiguri WL II, CB Jaldapara, Kurseong, Jaipaiguri, Baikunthpur, Cooch Behar, Bankura North and Bankura South Divisions were assigned for evaluation by NEWS.

(1)To over-view the project components such as Artificial Regeneration, Entry Point Activity (EPA), Soil & Moisture Conservation, Microplanning / PRA, Awareness Raising, Monitoring and Evaluations, Forest Protection Committee (FPC) participation etc.

(2)To evaluate the afforestration and eco-development and biodiversity conservation programme implemented by FDA to the 14 Forest Divisions with the help of people’s participation, focusing on alternative resources of livelihood to the forest fringe dwellers.

Overall assessment of a pre-sanctioned project under NAP implemented by FDA for the year 2010-11 & 2011-12.
