On 11 October 2026, Nature Environment & Wildlife Society (NEWS) under IKI-LLBCP participated in a collaborative clean-up drive at Deepor Beel, organised by The Midway Journey in association with the Pollution Control Board of Assam, Reclaim Guwahati, Assam Forest Department.

A total of 204.86 kg of waste was collected during the collaborative clean-up drive at Deepor Beel.

Following the clean-up drive, participants engaged in a discussion on ways to involve more people in the initiative and strengthen community participation. The team also explored plans to organise the clean-up drive on a monthly basis to sustain the momentum and encourage long-term collective action.

NEWS believes that protecting Deepor Beel requires continuous efforts, community ownership, and shared responsibility. Together, we can keep our wetlands cleaner, healthier, and thriving for future generations.
