Sundarban, a World Heritage Site, at present is facing various disasters due to climate change. The inhabited areas of the Sundarban are considered to be backward compared to other parts of West Bengal. Also, there are frequent environmental disasters such as silting up of rivers, cyclones, floods, saltwater intrusion, etc. Day by day, the life and livelihood of the people of Sundarban continue to suffer. Aiming to make future livelihoods sustainable and climate-change-friendly, on October 13th and 14th, Dr. Dipankar Saha and Mr. Debjyoti Chakraborty enriched the experience and planned activities for the Eco Club members through training camps on ‘Disaster Management and Livelihoods’ in Kumirmari and Hingalganj with the support from Terre des Hommes. As a result of environmental pollution, the calamities and damages are increasing day by day and it is expected that this mockery of nature will continue to increase, and we will be unable to deal with nature. But different ways of preparing and coping with the pre-disaster and finding ways of life and livelihood that can adapt to it will be the pillars for the recovery of Sundarban. Hopefully, these Eco Club members will take the learning from this camp and reflect it in their future work. #EcoClub #Sundarban #capacitybuilding #youth #Kumirmari #Hingalganj #TerredesHommes #sustainability #climateadaptive #futureleaders #climateaction #environment #disastermanagement #livelihoods
