Sustainable livelihood: Hope during Climate Change

20 - Jan - 2023

Sustainable livelihood is very important in a world impacted by climate change. To help the people of the Sundarbans, who depend on their surrounding environment for their livelihood, a Climate Literacy exercise on Sustainable livelihoods was held on the 14th and 15th of January. The Programme was held by Dr. Dipankar Saha, Vice president of Livelihood Initiatives for Empowerment (LIFE), who is a senior livelihood development expert in the Sundarban context. It was attended by the Eco club members of Bulbul, Jawad, Fani, Vayu and Laila. The Climate literacy exercise educated them in the sustainable methods of rice cultivation, pisciculture, beekeeping, animal husbandry, and more. These teachings will help the community live off the land even in times of climate uncertainty.
