Nature Environment and Wildlife Society, under the #internationalclimateinitiative (IKI) – #livinglakesbiodiversityandclimateproject (LLBCP), organized a three-day capacity building programme on “Cultural Handloom Weaving” from 3rd to 5th April 2024 at the Community Hall in Keotpara Azara, Guwahati, Assam. The training programme was specifically tailored for women from the fishing community of #deeporbeel with an aim to #empower them by enhancing their skills and also creating avenues for #alternativelivelihoodopportunities. Under the able guidance of Mr. Binanda Kalita, an expert in field of handloom weaving from Sualkuchi, a total of 25 women enthusiastically participated in this training session. With precision and expertise, Kalita guided the participants in understanding accurate weaving loom dimensions and demonstrated practical #handloomweaving techniques, ensuring a comprehensive learning experience for all participants
