Green Brigades were felicitated on World Mangrove Day (26th July, 2026) at Taj Ganga Kutir, Raichak

26th July, 2026

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to the Department of Tourism, Government of West Bengal, and the South 24 Parganas District Administration for felicitating the women of the Green Brigade on the occasion of the International Day for the Conservation of the Mangrove Ecosystem. We sincerely appreciate this recognition of their unwavering commitment to mangrove conservation and restoration.

The felicitation celebrates the dedication and resilience of women who have worked tirelessly to protect the mangroves while strengthening the resilience of their communities.

During the event, Padma Di, one of the Green Brigade members, shared their inspiring journey. She spoke about how these women came together to restore and protect the mangroves, helping their villages face the growing challenges of coastal erosion and cyclonic storms. There was a time when many families had to relocate repeatedly as erosion weakened the earthen embankments. Today, through their collective efforts, mangroves are helping stabilize these embankments, reduce erosion, and create a safer future for their communities.

This recognition is a celebration of community spirit, determination, and the incredible impact of women leading conservation efforts at the grassroots. Their journey reminds us that when people come together to protect nature, they also protect lives, livelihoods, and the future of their communities.

Congratulations to our inspiring Green Brigade. We are proud of your remarkable journey and the difference you continue to make for both people and nature. 🌿💚
