The 2024 Livelihoods Camp, organized by #livelihoodsfunds at Paris in France from March 11th to 13th, brought together the “Livelihood” network of change-makers all over the world in protecting #nature, impacting #communities and integrating #business with sustainability principles. Representatives from 40 projects across 16 countries, along with multi-national Investors, Academia, International NGO’s participated in this programme. During this event, practitioners shared their best practices, case studies, and insights across various fields. Ms. Ajanta Dey, Mr. Sourav Bera and Mr. Saikat Manna represented Nature Environment & Wildlife Society (NEWS) and showcased the #communityconservationmodel of mangrove restoration from the Indian Sundarban, signifying the importance of #NatureBasedSolutions, community involvement, especially women, as an integral co-actor in the initiative. The event also featured a marketplace where organizations demonstrated their achievements and learnings, alongside workshops, speed-dating, and roundtable discussions on topics ranging from #biodiversityconservation, #agroforestry, challenges related to large-scale restoration efforts, #regenerativeagriculture, farmer’s access to finance, farmers’ empowerment, transformation of supply chains, rural energy (efficient cookstoves), #speciesconservation etc. The mangrove restoration model, which was demonstrated by the NEWS team members during the event was highly appreciated by the participants. The networking event facilitated interactions with partners, stakeholders, and investors, enriching collaborative efforts towards creating the benchmarks for #sustainablelivelihoods and allied business.
