On the 26th of November, an awareness program on Mangroves was held in Namkhana, Dakshin Durgapur. For this event attendees from 2 SHGs from Shibrampur Gram panchayat, and the villagers attended. The purpose was to educate and drive the importance of mangroves into the hearts and minds of all who attended. The importance of the mangrove forest not only as a source of livelihood for them but also as a bio shield which protects them during cyclones and storms. The Green Brigade constituted of the women of the area are deeply committed to the conservation and protection of mangrove forests. It is the hope that this workshop helped people understand the vital importance of mangroves and continue protecting and conserving this important ecosystem.
