Plant protecting awareness programme on Earth Day

On the occasion of Earth Day, NEWS conducted a programme creating awareness and interest in protecting the planet in the hearts and minds of the students of Government High School Chandrapadi village and Chandrapadi community members. A total of 130 participated in this Earth Day programme. It began with an awareness session focused on Mangrove ecosystems, their ecosystem services, the many threats the earth and such ecosystems face and how the earth and each of its precious ecosystems can be saved. The students and community members then participated in a rally to the NEWS mangrove site where they were shown plantation methods and other effective measures to conserve nature.

The students took a pledge to do their part in protecting their home for the sake of the people, the planet and for future generations.
