Three-days residential training workshop on ‘Earthworm Diversity and Vermicomposting: a sustainable way to ecosystem restoration and livelihood generation’ from 13th to 15th September 2023 was organized by EIACP Centre, ZSI in collaboration with Paribesh Unnayan Parisad (PUPA), Kolkata at Sagar Island, South 24 Parganas, West Bengal. Dr. Rajmohana K (Sci-E & Coordinator, EIACP, ZSI, Kolkata) delivered the inaugural address. Hands-on training on vermicomposting technique was provided to the selected 21 youths interested in farming. Along with the vermicomposting technique, lectures were also delivered on earthworm taxonomy, agronomy, soil chemistry and ecorestoration etc. A book entitled ‘Earthworm Farming in Ecosystem Restoration’ (bengali language) by Dr. Amales Misra was released in the workshop.
