The Kumirmari Ecotourism Project, a community-led initiative in the Sundarbans, serves as a model for responsible tourism and sustainability. Through eco-friendly infrastructure, capacity-building, and diversified livelihood options such as eco-guided tours and cultural exchanges, the project has directly benefited over 200 families, increasing household incomes by 20%. It has also promoted biodiversity conservation and reduced dependency on unsustainable activities.
The event will highlight the role of community ownership, youth engagement, and compliance with environmental policies in achieving long-term resilience and sustainable development.
