Every year, #WorldWaterDay is observed globally on 22nd March to raise awareness about the importance of conserving water resources and advocate for its sustainable management. Focusing on the theme for this year’s edition “’Leveraging Water for Peace”, Nature Environment Wildlife Society (NEWS), under the IKI-LLBCP project, organized an awareness programme and several action-oriented sessions for the students of Chakardo Deshbhakta Tarunram Phukan M. E. School in Guwahati. The event addressed pressing issues like freshwater scarcity, inadequate access to safe drinking water, and the adoption of sustainable water conservation practices.
Through engaging interactive sessions, presentations and video documentaries, students learned about water’s vital role in sustaining ecosystems, supporting human health, driving economic activities, fostering social well-being and innovative concepts for sustainable water management. They also understood about the existing water crisis from global, national, and local perspectives.
The children actively participated in a hands-on demonstration session to monitor important water quality parameters like pH and Total Dissolved Solids (TDS) and measured water samples from #PamohiRiver, #DeeporBeel, and even the quality of the drinking water of their school and homes too……
The event aimed to inspire the next generation to recognize the significance of water and become stewards of our precious resources. Together, the students pledged to work towards a world where clean, safe water is accessible to every individual. The enthusiasm and eagerness displayed by the children throughout the session were truly inspiring!!!!!
