Augmentation of Alternative Livelihood Options of Fishermen through Comprehensive Development (Integrated Farming) in Balagarh Block

The principal objective of this project is to increase the agriculture production of farmers particularly small & marginal farmers in the rainfed single cropped areas of West Bengal by providing assured irrigation facilities within their cultivable area. WBADMIP has a range of components under its ambit like construction of Minor Irrigation schemes, agriculture support services, Horticulture support services, Fisheries support services etc. and NEWS is working closely with the local community of Balagarh block towards fulfillment of these components.   

 

Project Objectives:

 

augment alternate livelihood options of the fishermen through comprehensive development  by Integrated Farming System based  on pisciculture integrating artificial pearl culture, aerial horticulture on the water bodies, poultry farming, jute retting, vermi-compost on the bank of ponds and other type of farming according to the area-specific suitability.
