Re-instituting effective value chain to sustain the Mangrove stewardship in Indian Sundarban to adapt to climate change by building capacity of Badabon Farmers Producer Company Limited

Funded By: Fonds Français pour l’Environnement Mondial

Project Duration: November 2023 to April 2025

Description: Chanel Foundation has pledged support to the women stewards of Sundarban for building more climate-resilient livelihoods. As part of this project, there is a provision for an experienced consultant to guide us in the revamping process and develop a marketing strategy (with handholding during implementation of the developed strategy) for a period of 18 months. It should be noted that NEWS already has verticals in Agriculture, Fisheries and Animal Husbandry with experts within the organisation to boost the production and guide on the technical matters. However, without the necessary human resources to support the 18-month long supply chain development strategy laid out by the afore-mentioned expert, this effort will be futile

Project Objectives: To transform BFPCL into a viable business enterprise

Project Outcomes: BFPCL as an enterprise is running successfully as a value chain model linking all its stakeholders and augmenting the livelihood of Sundarban farmers

Project Location: Various districts of West Bengal including Indian Sundarban
