Project Objectives:

1. Plantation of the mangrove saplings on both-side embankments, monitoring, surveillance and implementation of long term sustainability planning.
2. To protect and restore the coastal ecosystem of Sundarban, NEWS has been working towards strengthening embankments with vegetative cover, involving local community through livelihood augmentation. As a supporting organization, NEWS has been working in the WBADMI Project since 2018 in the Minor Irrigation (MI) schemes and thus it has been a familiar location as well as the domain to intervene.
3. Embankment strengthening with vegetative cover for 8 KM stretch by mangrove nursery development, plantation & monitoring through local women groups.
