PROJECT SITE – 

 

Mahanda Wildlife Sanctuary & west of Baikunthapur Forest Division 7 Keseorgang Forest Devision, West Bengal, India

 

THEMATIC AREA-

  1. To develop a management plan of the species with suggestions from the Forest department and concerned authority
  2. To assess grassland management with special reference to invasive plant species and the habitat use pattern of herbivores with special reference to elephant and large ungulates
  3. To evaluate the current practices of weed elimination and suggest measures for strengthening effective weed management by removal of the major invasive species of plants already identified in Mahananda WLS
  4. To develop grasslands in Mahananda and Baikunthapur forest with special reference to Imperata cylindrica for improvising fodder species
  5. Mitigating Human-Elephant conflict in said landscape with particular reference to Kurseong Forest division
