Position: Manager , Sustainable Agriculture

Position Overview :
The Manager–Sustainable Agriculture will plan, implement, and provide on-ground handholding for agri-based interventions in the Sundarban and other regions, with emphasis on GAP, organic/natural farming, and biocontrol integrated with climate-resilient practices. The role will also lead farm-level post-harvest operations— including certification of produce and value-added products— and drive internal learning to strengthen programme outcomes in close coordination with the Leadership Team.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan and implement Programme level Regenerative Agricultural and Horticultural policies based on seasonality and Agro climatic status. Implement commercial production, including method and result demonstration at the farmers’ field following the policy of the organisation.
Build farm family level community seed bank and sustainable input resources. Provide support in intercultural operations and plant protection measures.
Implement Post Harvest Operations including farm scale processing , quality control and certification. Integrate farmers at the back end to the FPCs and value chain for market opportunities.
Document field learnings, prepare reports, and contribute to project monitoring.
Liaise with Government departments, research institutes, and market actors for farmer
linkages.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience:
B. Sc ( Ag) Hons. followed by M. Sc in Agriculture preferably with specialisation in Agronomy or Agricultural Extension or Agricultural Entomology/ Plant Pathology.
2+ years of Research or Field experience preferably with working expeience in rural or
coastal ecosystems.
Strong field orientation with knowledge in sustainable and climate-smart agriculture
practices.
Good communication skills in Bengali and English.
Experience with handling of NGOs/FPOs/community centric projects in agriculture is preferred.

Remuneration:
₹35,000 – ₹40,000 per month (based on experience & qualification). For highly suitable candidates, the salary may be negotiable/adjustable beyond this range.
Contract Period:
Initially for one year, renewable based on performance and program requirements.

Paid Internship on Youth-led Climate Action
Location: Sundarban Region, West Bengal
Remuneration: ₹15,000 per month
Duration: As per project requirement

About the Programme:
The internship aims to engage motivated young professionals in supporting, documenting, and expanding youth-led Climate Action initiatives, with a focus on mobilizing and empowering youth networks across the Sundarbans. The selected interns will work closely with NEWS project teams to promote climate resilience, environmental stewardship, and sustainable livelihoods.
Key Responsibilities:
Youth Mobilization and Network Building
Coordinate with existing Eco-Clubs and youth groups through meetings, workshops, and events under the Sundarban Youth Network.
Recruit and onboard new youth members and volunteers.
Identify and support emerging youth leaders and their training needs.
Assist in workshop facilitation on leadership, climate literacy, and project ideation.
Organize local action events such as clean-up drives, plantation activities, and awareness rallies.
Provide on-ground assistance for implementing climate-action projects, including mangrove conservation, medicinal plant gardens, waste management systems, and climate-resilient farming pilots.
Document all field activities through photographs, videos, and logs to support monitoring and evaluation.
Collect and prepare success stories, interviews, and testimonials for organizational reports and social media.
Assist in managing social media outreach, sharing updates, and promoting youth activities.
Engage in local advocacy by presenting project outcomes to community leaders, local authorities, and educational institutions.
Conduct interviews with local elders and practitioners to document traditional knowledge on biodiversity, medicinal plants, and sustainable practices.
Support the M&E team with data collection and analysis.
Contribute to report drafting, summarizing field findings, and preparing donor reports.
Academic Qualification:
M.Sc. in Biological Sciences / Environmental Sciences / Geography
