Position: Documentation & Communication Officer
Location: Mayiladuthurai Coastal District, Tamil Nadu
Project Title: Mangrove Afforestation in Mayiladuthurai Coastal District, Tamil Nadu, with Community Participation for Building the Resilience of Coastal Communities.

QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
- Master’s/Postgraduate degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Communication, Media Studies, Development Communication or a related discipline.
- 2–3 years of relevant professional experience, preferably in the NGO/development sector.
- Prior experience in communication for environment, conservation, climate change, biodiversity, livelihoods or community-based programmes will be preferred.
- Strong English writing, editing and documentation skills; proficiency in Tamil is preferred.
- Experience in preparing project reports, case studies, success stories, newsletters, press releases, website content and social media content.
- Experience in developing and implementing communication and visibility strategies for projects.
- Ability to translate field-level and technical information into clear, engaging communication materials for different audiences.
- Working knowledge of MS Office, Canva and other basic design/content tools.
- Experience working with communities, government departments, NGOs, academic/research institutions and other stakeholders will be an advantage.

- Able to work in multi-socio-cultural, socio-economical, and socio-political circumstances.
- Possess leadership quality and professionally manage the project team with an inclusive approach.
Scope of Work:
- Develop and implement the project’s communication and documentation strategy.
- Document project activities, outcomes, field experiences and community stories.
- Prepare reports, case studies, success stories, press releases, newsletters and knowledge products.
- Develop and manage content for social media and website platforms.
- Support project visibility, outreach and stakeholder communication.
- Coordinate with the field/project team to collect information, photographs, data and stories.
- Support preparation of progress reports, presentations, concept notes and donor communication materials.
- Document workshops, training, meetings, field events and community initiatives.
- Maintain an organised repository of photographs, videos, reports and other communication materials.
- Support seminars, workshops, campaigns and other project events.
- Travel to field locations as required for documentation and communication assignments.
Compensation & Benefits: ₹25,000-₹30,000 per month, subject to applicable statutory deductions

Position: Livelihood Officer

QUALIFICATIONS
- Master’s degree in Rural Development, Social Work, Development Studies, Fisheries Science, Agricultural Sciences, Livelihood Management or a related discipline.
- Candidates with relevant technical qualifications and substantial field experience may also be considered.
Experience and Skills
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in livelihood development, community institutions, rural enterprise development or fisheries-based livelihoods.
- Experience working with coastal communities, women’s groups, SHGs or community-based organisations.
- Understanding of sustainable fisheries, agriculture, microenterprises, market linkages or climate-resilient livelihoods.
- Strong community mobilisation, coordination, documentation and reporting skills.
- Proficiency in MS Office and digital reporting tools.
- Tamil must be the candidate’s mother tongue, with good communication skills in English. Knowledge of the local community, culture and coastal livelihood practices of Tamil Nadu will be an added advantage.
- Willingness to travel extensively across project villages and field locations.
Scope of Work:
- Plan, coordinate and implement sustainable livelihood interventions for coastal and fishing communities, with particular emphasis on women’s economic empowerment.
- Facilitate community-based livelihood initiatives, including seabass nursery farming, crab fattening, fish value-added products, household terrace farming, backyard poultry farming and biochar-based enterprises.
- Strengthen existing Women Steward Groups and support the formation of new groups for livelihood development and community-based natural resource management.
- Conduct livelihood assessments, beneficiary identification, household surveys and participatory livelihood planning.
- Facilitate training, capacity building, enterprise development and financial literacy among participating communities.
- Develop market linkages, value-chain opportunities and income-generation models for community-based livelihood enterprises.
- Coordinate with government departments, technical institutions, financial institutions and relevant stakeholders for convergence and technical support.
- Monitor livelihood interventions, including production, income generation, enterprise sustainability and household-level outcomes.
- Maintain beneficiary databases, field records, activity documentation and periodic progress reports through the organisational MIS.
- Work closely with the Project Manager and field team to ensure timely implementation of project deliverables.
Compensation & Benefits: ₹40,000-45000 per month, subject to applicable statutory deductions.

Location: Sundarban (Field-based, with periodic reporting to Kolkata office)
1. Scope of Work:
- Conduct field surveys and biodiversity assessments (flora, fauna, habitat monitoring).
- Assist in mangrove restoration activities and ecological monitoring.
- Collect, record, and analyze ecological and field data.
- Support preparation of field reports, species checklists, and documentation.
- Participate in community meetings, awareness programs, and stakeholder engagement.
- Conduct field visits as per project requirements.
- Assist in documenting best practices in biodiversity conservation and climate resilience.
2. Qualifications & Skills
Educational Qualification:
Pursuing or recently completed B.Sc./M.Sc. in Zoology, Environmental Science, Wildlife Biology, or related field.
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong interest in biodiversity and field-based conservation work.
- Willingness to work in remote/rural field conditions (Sundarban).
- Basic knowledge of data collection and species identification.
- Basic computer skills (MS Office, Excel).
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
Stipend
