Promoting visibility of Eco-park as a bird refuge through photographic documentation.

The Eco-park, in Newtown is the largest park in Kolkata as well as in India, was established with the idea of urban forest ecosystem and sustainable ecotourism by the Govt. of West Bengal. The Eco-park is an excellent example of the urban and semi urban ecosystem. But photographic documentation of the avian diversity has not been done so far. This project ensures a photographic documentation with species checklist of the available birds in the Eco-park . It gives good publicity and is a great attraction as a bird refuge among birders, bird photographers, nature journalists and enthusiasts through multiple workshops involving bird experts/ornithologists.
Project Objective:
1) Photographic documentation of avian diversity in Eco-park.
2) Promotion about the biodiversity richness of Eco-park as bird refuge.
Project Outcome:
1) Photographic and video documentation of the species available will be generated for the Eco-park.
2) A checklist of birds of the Eco-park will be generated.
3) Publicity and attraction generation of Eco-park as a birding refuge among birders, bird photographers, naturalists and nature-journalists.
