A practitioners’ conference was organised with 36 participants ranging from ICAR scientists to shrimp farmers on 26 th November at Kolkata under project titled “Multi-stakeholder partnership (MSP) to strengthen transformative processes in shrimp trade as a basis for the protection of mangrove ecosystems in South Asia.” The objective of the conference was to bring all practical partners engaged in integrated mangrove aquaculture (IMA) on one table for identification of existing approaches and the mobilization of needed expert support to set up a benchmark for developing a sustainable IMA model in the context of the Sundarban. The conference arrived at a couple of important recommendations on mangrove species selection, multispecies fish culture, soil and water quality management and disease management for IMA.
