Awareness Programme on Avifauna Conservation at East Kolkata Wetlands: organised by Nature Environment and Wildlife Society (NEWS) in collaboration with the East Kolkata Wetlands Management Authority (EKWMA).

‘The biodiversity of East Kolkata Wetlands is our asset. Don’t kill birds or other wildlife and don’t let them get killed.’  On the 1st day of the Awareness Programme on Avifauna conservation at East Kolkata Wetlands (EKW), these were the key messages that were spread to the targeted communities. Awareness was also raised on the ecosystem services offered by the water birds in the wetland ecosystem and the repercussions of capturing, caging, or killing water birds. The youth and the bheri workers of Kheyadaha 1 and 2 Panchayats of East Kolkata Wetlands actively participated during the outreach programme.
